Making A Difference
There are two types of leadership when it comes to government – executive leadership and roundtable leadership. Mayor, Governor, President (and CEOs) are positions of executive leadership where you determine the direction to take the crowd and put forth directives to lead everyone there. To be a strong representative, where you have only 1 vote out of 435, you must exhibit strong leadership at the roundtable of discussions. It is in success at the roundtable where I will make a difference.
While my consulting service business was a mere million dollar player in a world of billion dollar companies, I was able to obtain a seat at the roundtable where I could influence others with my strong voice and ideas. With that seat, I effected change and impacted business processes and decisions in the multi-billion dollar division of a multi-national corporation.
Through strength, knowledge and conviction, I was able to articulate and advocate for solutions and ideas I created. I did not create these solutions in a vacuum, I created them by working with others and understanding their problems. I did not merely give them what they asked for because quite often, what they asked for would not have solved their needs.
In Congress, I will bring forth this same approach, backed by my knowledge, research and experience - not experience in Congress, but experience working in America and building a company with other hard working Americans. Having lived in and around the barriers that are put forth by the officials who are elected to represent us, I have learned what constrains us and what can propel us.
Unlike the incumbent, I will not go to Washington and simply vote NO on every bill. That is easy. Anyone can do that. I will initiate and actively support legislation that frees the capital – both human and financial – constrained by current government taxation and regulation. I will not simply introduce this legislation, I will push it forward with the same knowledge and conviction I have used in the business world. My real life experiences will propel me to make a difference.
